THE POET'S CORNER - Voice Your Opinion!
It's Not Enough To Just Survive!
It's not enough to just survive
Spared once again- tho' you don't know why.
It's not enough to just survive-
When someone you know
Makes you cry and hide
  And, nothing you try
Bides the  time  gone by

When kindness weakens
And angry tempers fly
It's not enough, to just survuive.

You cant bring back life, o
nce the dust dies..
And, those sores- as sore as darkened skies
Reminding sore bones a
nd tear stained eyes...
That, e
very thirty seconds,
Someone else dies.

It's not enough to look down with eyes
Ashamed and tired from making up alibis
Too afraid- to speak out!
Lest' you, sound unwise...
No, i
t's not enough to hide and cry.
You must find yourself!
In order to survive
Too broke down to get up,
You must, stand and rise..
  Then n
ot looking back
Find your strength, inside..
'Cause each time one is lost'... an angel cries.
No, it's not just enough to hide and bide...
You must give back to yourself a joyous life!

"People Who Abuse Centers".

A new approach to an old concern.

There are times when a place of safe refuge is the only solution. Albeit, it is temporary at its best. All across the United States battered women 'shelters'       being setup at an alarming rate. Who's best intention is the assisting of families/persons of domestic abuse to recovery from domestic violence.      Although survival is, and should be the primary concern for those in fear, it is         the idea however of conditioning one's self into believing in, accepting and        keeping fear, while tossing 'self' survival out of the window. RUN! GET OUT! LEAVE EVERYTHING! RUN! Surely this can not be the only alternative. If the first and only thing you hear is... RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Then surely that is all you can do...      For the rest of your life....

Your sense of self protection, self-preserverence and sheer nerve is stripped away... Only to be replaced with false security, temporary dependency, dysfunction and depression. Now, let's propose something a little different for a minute.

Let's convert all Battered Women Shelters into PWAC's...
"People Who Abuse Centers"
House violators in PWAC's in lieu of jail!  Let families remain intact!
(Of course there are exceptions.. such as; when the offender can not be apprehended and there is a real need for escape.) Otherwise...

LOCK OUT THE ABUSER! SEND HIM/HER TO THE PWAC!
-aha! (What's that you say? hmmm...we may just have something here...hold on.. )

The offender could be 'housed' there, pay a housing stipend of...say, 100.00           dollars per week of stay to defray state fees, costs and any due restitutions.         The offender could be required to wear an ankle 'tag' and be required to report          to work. (a 50-50 split would be shared by victim and facility) If a woman/family  needs shelter/housing, then let us consider...' Homeless Shelters' with a plan         for re-entry and rehabilitation. Shelters are for housing those without homes and would/could serve that purpose. However, some vast improvements are needed        in this area as well! Providing professional, dedicated personnel who truely           address these concerns is needed upmost.

The family isnt displaced!

PROTECTING RIGHTS (of) EACH VICTIM (of) ABUSE IN LOUISIANA

Because... life is too short.

Founded in 2003, PREVAIL was born out of the need to 'stop the violence' against women, children, elderly and, men. The intent of this organization is to, raise awareness, take action for positive change and to encourage the re-valuing of persons and families affected by abuse. PREVAIL serves to address and hopefully correct, abuse patterns of offenders and victims through education, information, elevation and empowerment.

The 'I Could Be Your Sister...' campaign was began through efforts to demostrate the legacy of abuse is: despair, a loss of self worth, and in some cases economic homelessness brought on by displacement, due to living in fear, and in some cases, 'forced' home abandonmentAlthough preserving life is of premiere concern, and one should never remain in situations where there is even a threat of danger, PREVAIL asks the questions, why one has to flee, escape, or run and live in hiding from a person, or persons who break laws put in place to protect citizens from assault and battery.

PREVAIL hopes to encourage surviving abusive relationships through social partnerships with programs that address offenders, while helping families remain safely in tact. "Little Tommy''
shouldn't have to flee friends, schools, playmates, neighbors and toys just to live safe. Teaching victims to run for thier lives... abandoning everything, in a lot of cases, conditions them to believe they are helpless and can no longer live normally in society. Out of that fear breeds homelessness and poverty, social displacement.  In reality, there should be laws in place to protect the unity and functionality of the family base from abuse, displacement, despair and disruption.

PREVAIL hopes to teach 'different' methods of recovery for both victims and those who abuse with accountability, restitution, and a commitment to living mentally, emotionally and financially healthy.
Domestic Violence Is Assault & Battery...
Assault & Battery Is A Crime!

Let's consider an alternative...
Prosecute those who offend.
